My experience on being travel guide;-) to my friend

My grand ma who used to tell me interesting stories about this place.Which made me show interest in listening to history of our place(tulunadu).My friends used to call me philosopher.Whenever they had any doubts relating to any cultural things they used to ask me.As i had more knowledge about those things.I was interested in Dharmik things(related to god) and histories of my culture.

     I had one of my friend named Nidhi. Basically she was from manglore itself.But she stayed in Mumbai. So she was unaware about the culture.She had been to manglore at the time of dasara. Manglore dasara is very famous festival which is celebrated our here.All our manglore we find pili nalike(tiger dance).And She was very interested to see that dance because it is one of the famous dance over here.It has its own history too.The people who dance will paint their body as in tiger and the steps are very unique and energetic.They perform stunts while dancing.The music itself is something like which makes us to feel like dancing.She enjoyed this dance.The band which is used in this dance is called thaase. Later i took her to kudroli temple.She was like "wherever we go there is pilivesha"At night there will be  procession.In which 9 devi will be taken and lots of tablo's will be there.The procession begins from kudroli temple.It will take a round in the city and later the procession will return to temple back and the visarjan of statues will be done in the pond of temple itself.The procession begins at night nearly by 7 and visarjan is done in the morning.As there are many tablo's it will be late while visarjan. Most of the tablo's will be of pilivesha dancing on the truck.It was first time she visited manglore dasara. We both enjoyed this festival together and i could explain her regarding our culture too.

       Tiger dance is so famous now like in every mehndi functions also the dj wala will play this song and everyone demand this song.Infact i love to dance on the music of pili dance.In one of the kannada movie they have danced pili dance.The film name is ulidavaru kandanthe.Here the pili dance was performed by famous kannada Actor Rakshith Shetty.My friend was fond of that song.She had seen that dance in that film.So she was asking me that she want to see that dance live.I called her to visit manglore dasara and that was the time we could enjoy pili dance.

5 mistakes to avoid while performing yakshagana

     Yakshagana is a famous folk dance of dakshina Kannada.Mythological and historical stories are being presented in Yakshagana. It is one of the beautiful dance form which is at present coming into light not only in our district but also all over the country.It has got its own steps to be followed which is very unique and beautiful.The makeup and costume which they wore is very beautiful to see.Its not easy to perform this art.One has to go through thorough practice to be a perfectionist in this field of art.It's not that we cannot learn to perform. Definitely we can perform by avoid certain mistakes.

1.The person performing the role of Devi shouldn't have non vegetarian.
When any person is performing Yakshagana(Devi Mahathme)he shouldn't have non veg on that day of his performance and he should keep fast on that day.He can have food(rice) only once in that day.Devi mahathme Yakshagana is being performed for god(Kateel amma).So he the person who is performing the role of Devi should keep himself pure without having non vegetarian.This art is not just simply about performing but its more about giving something to god(harake).So not everyone can play this role.The person who is playing,should be spiritual.

2.Steps should be clear
The steps which are in Yakshagana is very unique.This art does not have more steps.But steps which are performed is to be perfect and has to perform with that grace itself.The person cannot simply perform it.He has to practice each and every step.He has to with each beat(thaala maddale).He cannot miss those beats.One step in this art called as dhigina which is not easy to perform for everyone.So the person who knows it well only he has to perform.

3.The person must take care of his costumes
There are certain roles where in heavy makeup and costumes are worn.That person will not be able to dance for long.As I told about Dhigina which has to be performed by only light costume people.If the person with heavy costumes takes more Dhigina his costume which he had worn in his head may fall.So he has to take care of his costumes while performing each steps.

4.Performer should not use a single word in English while he is delivering his dialogues
Usually Yakshagana is either performed in Tulu or Kannada language.All the dialogues has to be spell in tulu or Kannada. That person who is performing cannot spell even a single word in English .He should have clear cut information about the topic or story he is going to present. He should have a loud voice while delivering his dialogues.He has to practice his dialogues properly so that he can avoid English words.

5.expressions are must in Yakshagana.
Each role in Yakshagana have their own ways of expressing.They should go deep into their character.Which help them to give beautiful expressions and they can connect to people well.For every performer expressions are must.
